Jayme Closs

On October 15 of this year, police in Barron, Wisconsin got a 911 call. Nothing was said directly to the dispatcher, but screams could be heard in the background. When police got to the home of Jayme Closs and her parents, her parents had been murdered, but Jayme was nowhere to be found. She remains missing. So what happened to her, and where is she? I will see what the Tarot has to offer through a horoscope spread.

In the first house, we find Death. Usually, Death does not represent an actual, physical death in tarot readings, but in a reading for a missing person, the card sometimes does point us in that direction. A more typical meaning for Death is a major change or transformation. The first house is the situation at hand, and at this moment, the person who murdered Jayme's parents is in control of the situation. The second house gives us the ten of wands. The second house is about money and possessions, and the ten of wands augers oppression and power that has been used unwisely. The unfolding picture is beginning to show us a drama that took place between Jayme's parents and another adult; this very likely had nothing to do with Jayme. We will come back to this, since it speaks to motive.

The third house, of communication, memory, and short journeys, shows the six of cups. This is a card of childhood memories and childhood friends; and it leads right into the next card in the fourth house of home environment and real estate property, the ten of pentacles, reversed. The ten of pentacles, when it falls upright, often foretells of inheritance and money received as a gift or bonus. Reversed, it points to a loss of inheritance, or to a financial risk that did not pan out. As it has turned up in a position that tells us about real estate property and houses, perhaps investigation of those things in relation to Jayme's parents is merited. This strengthens the point made by the ten of wands in the second house and suggests investigation of previous occupants of the home or anyone involved in joint financial endeavors with Jayme's parents.

In the fifth house, of creativity, entertainment, and children, we find the World. Somehow, the perpetrator has managed his goal. The message here is that he is still at large. The sixth house, of inconveniences, health or lack thereof, and mundane, day to day events, gives us the five of pentacles, reversed. We have someone who appears happy and balanced; no one would dream that this is the person who killed Jayme's parents. The seventh house, of partnerships, gives us the Devil. Here we have someone who insisted upon his own way and dominated Jayme's parents. Traditionally, the seventh house symbolizes marriage, but it also often refers to partnerships that are not necessarily marriage, so this could be a business partnership. The message throughout the reading, so far, has been one of a man whose losses made him feel justified in committing horrible crimes. This reiterates it. The eighth house, of joint finances, mysteries, and sometimes, death; turns up the four of wands, which is a card of celebration. Once again, we have a reference to a job completed....the goal was to kill Jayme's parents. We have the six of wands in the ninth house, of long distance travel. This tells us what we already know: the perpetrator and Jayme have successfully disappeared. Investigators should keep looking at surveillance videos; there WAS a vehicle involved, and the Closs's were not chosen randomly. Someone intended harm to them.

We find Temperance, reversed, in the tenth house of career, ambition, and social standing. The tenth house also represents the father, and Temperance is a card of good combinations when it is upside right. Reversed, it tells of the opposite: bad combinations. Since this is also the house of the father, I am inclined to think that work associates or possibly an employer of Jayme's father should be given closer scrutiny, along with any person financially connected to or involved with him. The next card, in the eleventh house, is the ten of swords. The eleventh house is the house of friendships and fun, and the ten of swords is a card of violence and ruin. This is the first indication in this reading, so far, that young Jayme might have met a violent end. I always sincerely hope I am wrong in such assessments. The last card, in the house of secrets, secret enemies, and defeat is the Page of Pentacles, reversed. This is unfavorable news; Jayme is considered a liability because she witnessed a crime. Once again, I hope I am wrong.

The only cards that give hints to location are the six of cups, pointing us west at first; then the six of wands, taking us south. Temperance gives us hints about water, a river or a shallow lake. The biggest message here is about the motive of the killer; revenge for a loss of property and money.

UPDATE: Jayme Closs has been found alive! Sadly, she witnessed a terrible crime and was the victim of kidnapping, but she managed to get away. Now a suspect has been arrested. As of this update, law enforcement has not determined the connection of the suspect to Jayme, or to Jayme's family.

Jake Obad Mathis and Melvin Jones

Jake Obad Mathis and Melvin Jones, two twenty year old soldiers stationed at Fort Bliss, Texas, have been missing since December 19. They were last seen leaving the base in a 2013 black Camaro that belongs to Jones. Obad Mathis is AWOL, but Jones had been given leave for the holidays, so he is not AWOL yet. Someone sent me a comment, asking for a reading for them, so we will see what the cards have to say.

We start with the ten of swords, reversed, crossed by the two of pentacles, which is also read reversed, here. This already does not look good; the upside down ten of swords shows us a power play, albeit a temporary power play; and the two of pentacles, reversed, tells us about an inability to agree on something: two ideas or situations that end up at cross purposes with no compromise. Beneath this, we have the three of swords, also reversed. This hints that someone involved here has been compromised in some way by someone else, who is also involved. Looking a little bit further back, into events leading up to this, we have the ace of cups, reversed. This is a broken agreement or some plan that was suddenly changed, without the approval of both men. I already do not like this.

The Chariot, also reversed, appears in the place of possibilities. Once again, this suggests plans that have fallen through. Sometimes, this card, in reversal, means that an unethical victory was won. Next, we have what seems to be a driving force here: the ten of pentacles. This card often refers to a windfall of inherited, won, or gifted money. Somewhere along the chain of events, this type of situation became a factor.

In the place of fears, we have the six of pentacles, reversed. This is envy, bad debt, and refusal to share evenly. It is followed by the eight of swords, in the place of environment. I do not like to see this card in this position, because if describes the state of being trapped somewhere. Often, the physical area would be shallow water, in a remote area, where no one would search. The five of swords appears in the place of hopes, and this is a card of anger, violence, and revenge. Someone involved in this case had these desires. The last card is the eight of cups, reversed. It looks as if one of the young men is spending money and "celebrating" while the other is not.

It frankly looks to me as if there was an argument between these two young men over a monetary windfall, they could not decide how to share it, and one of them deliberately or accidentally killed the other. I always hope I am wrong when I see something like this, and I hope I am wrong this time, too. The directions given would be east, then west. This time, I think the distance is at least a day's travel by car, though. Below is a picture of a 2013 black Camaro, similar to the one in which Obad Mathis and Jones were last seen.

What Happened To Eric Franks?

Eric Franks was last seen en route to Saginaw, Michigan. This was in 2011, and at this point, he is presumed dead; but what really happened, and how can it be proven? We will see what light the Tarot can shed.

This reading begins with Justice, reversed, crossed by the three of cups. Justice delayed is often justice denied, but the three of cups, here, promise an end to this scenario. Going into background, we have the Queen of Swords, a woman who is kindly disposed toward Eric and is looking for him. As she falls upside right, I will assume that she is either part of Eric's family, or law enforcement. Her efforts have pulled up quite a bit of reliable information. In the recent past, we have the Page of Pentacles, which in this case, is an important bit of information from a younger person. It may open up a viable avenue of search.

In the place of possibilities, we find the ten of pentacles. The ten of pentacles is often an inheritance, or a monetary gift. Somehow, this is a factor; but it is something that never materialized, and is just an idea. In this case, it may speak of a possible motive for Eric's disappearance. In the place of things that will come to pass, we have the ace of pentacles, which is not quite as big of a windfall as the ten of pentacles, and often represents an opportunity rather than actual money, but this dynamic is involved in solving this mystery. It may be a reward for valid information.

The Page of Cups, reversed, appears in the place of fears. This is a young person who is not very good at a skill to which he or she claimed excellence. This has also caused worry for the person responsible for Eric's disappearance. Next, we have the two of swords in the place of environment. Not only do we have people with information refusing to come forward, there have also been a couple of people who have tampered with evidence! This also may give us a clue in terms of physical location: swords usually point us east. All the of the pentacles in this reading have pointed us north, as well. The six of cups appears, reversed, in the place of desires. This is a false notion; an expectation of a a gift, or perhaps just an outworn idea, on the part of an involved party. It also shows that someone may be attempting to sell information! The last card is the Moon, which shows bad luck and secret enemies. It also, however; grants investigators an ability to "read by moonlight", in the dark, if necessary, to find this young man. The Moon is a water card, and points slightly west, but any westerly movement of clues is almost an act of nature. Going back to the three of cups, there WILL be an end to this. I always wish I had better news in readings such as this.

How Can Sierra Lamar Finally Be Located?

Sierra Lamar, who disappeared in March of 2012, has still not been found. I have done a couple of readings for her,  most recently, this one, dealing with Antolin Garcia, the suspect in her case. I recently got a question about possibly drawing a map, but I do not know the area where she was last seen, and I am a bit hesitant to try. Unfamiliarity with such subject matter is a serious limitation for such an endeavor. After pondering what I might be able to do, I decided to try a horoscope spread for Sierra. Sometimes astrological references are better for the determination of location than other types of divination. So my attempt follows.

In the first house, the house of ego, personality, and physical appearance, we get the King of Swords. Obviously, this is not Sierra, but as he falls upright, and as court cards in the suit of swords are often law enforcement, I think it is safe to assume that this man is either an officer or a prosecutor investigating the case. The second house, the house of money and possessions, gives us the four of wands, reversed. We have seen the four of wands in other readings pertaining to Sierra, and I think we still need to check the symbolism indicated by the card for location: this is a card of happy family celebrations, harvest completed, havens or refuges, or parks where people have picnics or outdoor parties. Once again, we see it reversed, so while the meaning remains the same, there is a chance that this location has either been abandoned or is not visited very often. In the third house, the house of short journeys, communications relating to business, memory and logic, and power; we find the Queen of Cups, reversed. This is a woman who is somehow connected to the case, and she has been hiding evidence and prevaricating to investigators. It is interesting that we see her in the house of "short journeys". She not only knows Sierra's location, but may have visited it. The fourth house, the "home environment", and coincidentally, the last days of life, give us the ace of wands, reversed. I do not think that we are being told of Sierra's home where she resided with her family; I think this is the "home environment" of the main crime scene. Wands point us south, but this wand is reversed; I think it is possible that the suspect began to go south with Sierra, but changed his mind, yet did not travel as far as he had originally intended. Sierra has not moved, but her locations has been "clouded", or obscured, at least once.

The fifth house, of creativity, love affairs, and children, presents the Devil, reversed. This is actually good news for the investigation, because when the Devil falls upside right, that speaks of bondage. Reversed, the meaning is release from bondage. The fifth house also points us to amusements and pleasures, which, once again, ties in with the imagery of a place used for recreation. In house six, the house of day to day life, work relationships, and domestic animals, we find the High Priestess. She is a symbol of secrets, and she also links to water. Once again, we have the reference of hidden influences, and we also have a feminine influence. But this is being done quite casually. In the seventh house, of marriage and divorce, close relationships, close partnerships, and the relation of all of those things to the general public, we have the Empress. The Empress is the "mother" card of the Tarot. Something that grabbed my attention is the remote and almost archaic symbolism on the card; the myrtle tree and branches traditionally go along with the Empress, and her crown traditionally has twelve stars. Venus is also symbolic, and sometimes she is pictured with seven pearls around her neck. These elements, somehow, deserve consideration. In the eighth house, which represents death, joint finances, and transitions, we see the Wheel of Fortune. This card represents the laws of cause and effect, and also can foretell an unexpected stroke of luck. As it is in the eighth house, which is death, I think we are being told that we may find the crime scene, as well as Sierra. The reference to cause and effect may refer to evidence and the presence of DNA.

In the ninth house, the house of long journeys, the social "establishment", law, and protection, we get the nine of cups. This card speaks of having plenty of resources, and is also a reference to "home", but home here is a place to eat and drink. The cups take us west, and the ninth house refers to travel, as does the third house, which, incidentally, also has a card from the suit of cups, pointing us a little to the west. The "home" symbolism tells us that the suspect(s) did not take Sierra too far from home, though. The tenth house, of social standing, career ambitions, relationships with superiors, and "father" relationships, gives us the Tower, which is a card of imprisonment and ruin. Overthrow of existing methods of investigation are indicated here, along with disruption of some type; yet all this may bring much needed enlightenment. Someone connected to the investigation appears to either be consciously or unconsciously "helping" the suspect, rather than helping Sierra's family find Sierra. The eleventh house, of hopes, hobbies, and friends, gives us the seven of cups. The seven of cups is a card of dreams, sometimes fantasy, but not of direct knowledge. The message on this is clear; Sierra's peers and friends do not know where she is. It is interesting to note that there is another "water" or "west" reference, though. In house number twelve, of secret, self undoing, and secret enemies, we find the Hanged Man. This is often a card of sacrifice and meditation, but I also see it as another reference to trees, a single tree, and water.

I hope this reading has helped. If I knew the area at all, it would be easier for me to link the symbolism to actual features in the landscape. I hope evidence, along with Sierra, can be found.

Lorrin Whitehead

Lorrin Whitehead, forty-three, pictured to the left, was last seen in February of this year, in Bannockburn, Victoria. She had been grocery shopping for her family. There has been no activity in her bank account, which is always a reason for concern, and she is also diabetic.

The basis is Temperance crossed by the four of pentacles. Temperance is good management with time and resources, but the four of pentacles crossing it shows a challenge in that area, but what could that possibly have to do with Lorrin Whitehead's disappearance? Below this, we have the ten of swords, which is not a good card in a reading such as this. It is a card of violence and ruin. Behind the basis is the three of wands, which looks like help planning........someone may have asked her for assistance with something. The wands would point south. Following this, we have the nine of cups, reversed. When this card falls reversed, it tells of mistakes, and I think the mistake here had to do with trust: Lorrin somehow placed her trust in the wrong person. The next card is the Empress. This is likely the reason Lorrin was in the position to trust the wrong person; a desire to help someone, from a nurturing standpoint.

The card at the base of the staff, in the place of self image, is the three of cups, reversed. This indicates someone with self indulgent tendencies and it sometimes indicates endings. Cups are water and emotions, and so far, there have been two reversed cups in this reading. Somehow, misplaced trust with someone who should have been congenial rather than violent is key in this situation. The next card, describing the general environment surrounding the disappearance, is the Chariot. This is conquest, and playing two extremes, successfully, against each other. On purely mundane levels, this could also be transportation by vehicle. So we see Lorrin transported in a vehicle that is not her own. Next we have the eight of cups, which is dissatisfaction with the very thing from which the subject expected satisfaction. The final outcome is the ace of wands, reversed. This is a disappointment. Whoever is indicated in the three of wands.......and that card DOES speak of involvement of at least one other person, has not reaped the benefits expected from his or her actions. I do not like to see the ten of swords in any reading about a missing person, but I always hope, until the case is closed, that the person is found safe. Here, I would expect the perpetrator to have had several changes of heart concerning the concealment of evidence, possibly trying water first, then burning evidence. West was considered, but south was somehow more convenient, and there could be multiple places containing or related to evidence. I would expect three miles south and three miles west of the last place Lorrin was seen to be important.

Revisit Of Aliayah Lunsford

Aliayah Lunsford disappeared almost a year and a half ago, in West Virginia. Why hasn't she been found? I will go ahead and do an update for the earlier readings I have done in this case.

For the past, I drew the Page of Swords, the four of cups, and the Queen of Cups, reversed. This page represents spying, and messages given with ulterior motives. The four of cups would point west, and indicate outdoor locations with trees, streams, AND standing water, such as lakes or ponds. The Queen of Cups, when reversed, is a woman who is not trustworthy. The Page of Swords is a person younger than the Queen who knows her secrets, yet has not come forward.

For the present, I drew Death, The World, reversed, and Judgement, reversed. Death usually does not foretell death per se, but major changes. This is one of those rare instances when I feel that the message is straightforward. When the World appears reversed, it is usually telling of failure and inability to move, and I think this card is telling us that this child has not moved or changed location on the "physical plane" in a long time. Judgement reversed tells us that someone out there would rather take the secret of what happened to Aliayah to the grave, rather thann come clean.

For the future, I drew the Moon, The Tower, and tpf pentacles, reversed. The Moon is deception and paranoia. At some point, information about Aliayah's disappearance could become ammunition of sorts against someone, or blackmail fodder. In the reversals described by the Tower, however; such fodder may become obsolete or ineffective......the reversed ace of pentacles shows that someone who formerly had something to lose by revealing the Queen of Cups's secret may find him or herself in a different position, without as much to lose, or without anything to lose by telling the truth. Also with the Tower comes different power hierachies. A new prosecuting attorney or a new sheriff may make a difference in the future.

My original reading for Aliayah Lunsford is here.

McKayla Dawn McCormick.

McKayla Dawn McCormick , fifteen, has been missing from her home in Ahwatukee, Arizona, since January 9. Her case has, thus far, been investigated as a runaway case, and she is listed as "endangered missing". I will see what the Tarot has to say about her case. This reading begins with the ace of wands, crossed by the Star. McKayla may very well have left home on her own accord. The ace of wands is a new adventure of some sort, sometimes this card tells of a pregnancy.....but it is too soon in the reading to jump to conclusions. The Star is creativity and brilliance, but in this case, not yet materialized. Found this, we have the six of pentacles, which is a gift or an offer. McKayla was offered "something", which she clearly regarded as an opportunity that she could not get while staying where she was. Unfortunately, this card is followed by the Moon, reversed, which I do not like to see in a reading such as this. Reversed and in the recent past, the Moon speaks of deception and bad luck. I will keep my fingers crossed for McKayla. The best that may come out of this situation is the ten of cups, which means family, celebrations, and homecomings, so I will take that card as an encouragement. The next card, something that will happen in the near future, is Judgement. I do believe McKayla will be found. I also think the situation will be put right.

The King of Wands comes up in the place of fears. As he falls upright, I will assume that he has McKayla's best interests at heart. He is an older, married, family oriented man who is currently seeking to find McKayla. Possibly her father? He is followed by the nine of cups, reversed, which speaks of overkill in matters mundane......too much food....too much shelter.....too much protection, ect. It also signifies minor imperfections, but no family is perfect. The card that falls in the place of hopes and fears is the eight of pentacles, reversed. This is the card of the professional and of the apprentice, describing skill in a task. I interpret this card's appearance here to mean that there is a fear among those close to McKayla that someone officially investigating her disappearance is a bit of a dilettante, and unable to do the job of finding her. The last card in this reading is the Chariot, reversed, telling us that in order to find McKayla, law enforcement will have to balence two different parties of witnesses without blaming or pointing fingers at any of them, until all is said and done. Many of the cards (cups and water symbolism) point west, and a couple point north. Somehow, this time, not only should those physical directions be considered, but also the fact that this child thought she had found a way to follow her heart with her feet still safely on the ground, only to find herself in grave danger.

Anyone with information about McKayla Mccormick should contact Phoenix Arizona police, or call 1-800-THE-LOST.
